that is very interesting. With their game 'Little Big Planet', they introduced games 2.0 (related to web 2.0).
Think about it: User can create their own levels (environments) and with your own avatar you can play inside the games, created by others....

As far as I heard, it's horribly implemented, as mentioned on www.penny-arcade.com

And users have been creating their own things since forever. Only now, it's gotten popular. For Valve Software, for example, they've actually made quite a bit of money out of people making their own versions of their software. Of course, with the creators of those versions.

Basically: Only if you paid a small heap of money, is this "innovation" free.
