Some games are innovative from a storytelling point of view, while with others the design is an art-form on its own.
The Unfinished Swan is one of the latter. Check this trailer, it's stunning.
Next year is the official release.... let's see if this game has great gameplay as well.

Fantastic concept! This is very innovative and I hope it will get as much appreciation as it should.
Indeed, games can be art and in the last 5-6 years we've seen an incrasing number of games that can considered as such.
Games such as Ico, Shadow of the colossus, MGS3, Okami and many more have aesthetic values that rank -if not surpass- many films, but also add musical, artistic and emotional values to it that can't be found in other media.
Some links for my artsy favorite games -even tho the videos don't make them justice:
MGS3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJ0PdCIIAdg
SPOILER ALERT! (also notice, the user has to shoot the boss himself, adding a new level of interactivity in cutscenes)
Okami: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-gabOwPk1c
In this one you're the god of nature and are recovering Japan from evil ;)
Shadow of the colossus:

In a HUGE world, there is only 13 enemies to take care of, but they are colossi... Going from one colossus to another can take as much as 1 hour of riding your horse in this gorgeous world. This game has one of the best examples of music changes depending on the action on the screen.
Ico:

Another work of art, you develop a relation to Jorda (the girl of light) to save her from the shadows never seen in any other game.
More to come later ;)
